Prior to opening Butterfly Pediatrics in November 2014, Dr. Aimee Ferrell practiced pediatrics for 11 years in a large group practice. As a solo practitioner, Dr. Ferrell is able to foster more patient-centered relationships in a bright, child-friendly, and intimate setting. It is her desire to maintain a trusting human connection with her patients and families while simultaneously keeping abreast of the latest in health information technology.
Dr. Ferrell received her B.S. in Microbiology from LSU in 1995, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She then went on to receive her MD from LSU-HSC New Orleans in 2000. There, she achieved the distinction of membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed her final stage of training as a pediatric resident in Birmingham, Alabama at UAB and The Children’s Hospital of Alabama in 2003. As a practicing physician, Dr. Ferrell maintains her certification with The American Board of Pediatrics, most recently recertifying in 2013.
Throughout her medical training, Dr. Ferrell balanced the responsibilities of being wife to Ben, and mother to her three sons, who are now 17, 12, and 9. The Ferrells once again call Baton Rouge home and, like many modern families, do their best to incorporate healthy habits into their busy lifestyle. All of the Ferrells participate in activities such as tennis, swimming, soccer, and long-distance running. They hope to encourage the Butterfly patients to strive for a healthy and active lifestyle too!
